Vanessa-Mae bernama lengkap Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson. Ia lahir di Singapura, 27 Oktober 1978. Perempuan cantik ini adalah musisi yang terkenal dengan kemampuan bermain violinnya yang menakjubkan. Vanessa-Mae dilahirkan dari keluarga Thai, mulai belajar piano pada usia 3 tahun dan belajar biola pada usia 5 tahun. Pada usia yang sangat muda, ia telah sering muncul di TV dan memberikan suatu talenta dan prestasi luar biasa. Vanessa-Mae muncul secara internasional pada Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival di Jerman tahun 1988 (pada usia 10 tahun).
